The release coincided with their first summer gig at At The Cross Church (better know as ATC) where ticket sales helped to provide scholarships for kids to go to various summer camps. "It's an honor to be able to help bring in some funds so these kids can experience summer camp. Some of the best times I had growing up were at summer camp, and it would be a shame for them to miss out," says Withrow.

You can listen to the 3 tracks from the EP on the music page.

Bus Seven is so close to finishing the recording they can taste it! The guys are definitely looking forward to holding the final product in their hands (and getting to invite fans to the release party!). Frank Hames' studio is sure busy the next few weeks as the final electric, bass, and vocal parts are laid down. There's a heavy anticipation hanging in the air of what's to come for the first full length album from Bus Seven as the guys continue to practice their show week end and week out. But as the groove and instrumentation get tighter, there's a funny feeling between the members that somehow this humble little album will draw some mighty big attention somewhere on down the road. If they keep getting the attention that songs like "There's This Woman," and "Prosper," are drawing then I don't think they'll need too worry much about obscurity.

A Season of Firsts

By this time of year, most people discover two things: they either love or hate college basketball and their New Year's resolutions lasted about as long as a 16 seed's stint in the NCAA tournament. Thankfully, there will always be a new season; an opportunity to start things fresh.

The boys from Bus Seven have experienced many "firsts" this season. Before you ask... No, it's not the cracking of our voices or hair growing in weird places (although Kenneth's beard is pretty impressive). We've begun recording the first official Bus Seven ALBUM!! Hopefully, you'll check out some of the photos from our recording session: click on 'PICS' or check 'em out on Facebook. We've had a blast pushing ourselves, both through musical creativity and collaboration! We've got a few more sessions in the studio, and then it's off to mixing, mastering and post-production. We're just as excited as you are to hear the finished product. God is good!

Bus Seven has also now had it's first official photo shoot! That means we didn't have to run around town looking for cool places to take pictures of each other. One of the benefits of being in a band is photographers take photos that make you look MUCH cooler than you actually are. Exhibit A:

The photo, thanks to Doyen Rainey, is thoughtfully created and beautifully crafted. And Colin and his bass just happen to be in it. Check out Facebook to see more of the pics!!

Another new experience for Bus Seven will be playing our first gig!! We'll be performing at the Methodist Children's Home in Waco, TX this weekend. We're proud to be working with an organization that "offers hope to children, youth and families through a nurturing, Christian community." Check out their website here. We also look forward to meeting the 200+ youth who'll be attending our concert!! We'll post again after the weekend's festivities.

One final first... Bus Seven ate at a place called Burger Island in Mesquite, TX. They serve the BIGGEST burger we've ever seen! Check it out here. Peace!

Bus Seven "Re-Generated"

The Band is back! Bus Seven officially has four members again! This deserves a celebration and dance party, but that will come soon enough. Colin Campbell and Kenneth Funderburk are filling the bass and drum postions quite wonderfully, and the first practice all together went as well as I'd imagined--even better I'd say.

We had plenty to discuss and practice along with John's perfectly prepared breakfast of eggs, toast and coffee from Ethiopia, and I'm looking forward to sitting down and working out the details of a new album. For me, this is a dream come true--literally. I had dreamed of this day: to see at least four musicians of the highest caliber sitting around and talking about the future of Bus Seven--laughing, tuning, telling stories of Native American war songs put to techno beats (which is true). We'll keep you posted on what's next.

After practice and after a needed break, John and I headed to play a benefit concert at Generator Coffee in Garland, TX. It's funny, but out of the four or five shows I've played there I think all have been benefit concerts. I don't know what that means, but I'm just stating a fact. It was also great to see the organizers of the concert again--Matthew and Hannah. They're engaged now, and it was news to my ears, so I congratulated them and later, after the show thought, "If I ever hear of someone else getting engaged, I'm going to at least buy them a drink or something--right on the spot. There's not much else better to celebrate on this side of eternity!"
